MyoConcepts Mini Course

The purpose of this course is to gain a basic understanding of Orofacial Myology or oromyofunctional therapy.  Overview will consist of a review of typical and atypical development of the orofacial complex, disruptions that result in impairment of the oral function, basic parameters of an assessment, and the treatment hierarchy.   Using a systems approach, speech therapy and dental practitioners will be instructed how to formulate interventions within their scope of practice to establish and/or follow a plan of care to improve the functioning of the orofacial complex. The presentation will utilize a case-based approach to demonstrate and summarize application of material.
